ACSII II Guide to Geometric Morphometrics in MorphoJ

6.  Exclude Observations

Some time it is important to use some of the individuals (i.e. groups, male or female) of a data set for particular analysis. The easiest way to do this is going under project tree tab, select preliminaries menu and then select include or exclude observations. After selection the following dialog box appears:

In this dialog box the top right corner has Create a new dataset button. If the included or excluded observations need to be a in a separate new dataset, this button should be selected which enables “Name” box to have a new name for the dataset. Here is an example which shows a separate dataset has been created named as “Mormyrid_test” and where 3 observations have been excluded. At the end click Accept tab and it creates a new dataset under the existing project.

The user interface looks like the following as we create a new dataset:

Note:

There might be more than one data set in an existing project.  MorphoJ runs an analysis on the data set highlighted in the Project Tree tab, so it is important to select the correct data set to run an analysis.
