AIMS Migration Facility /Migration Setup
Initiation
Either of two AIMS applications can be used for initiating the migration
of Mantis entities into production. The two,
AMT and
AMI
can be entered at the AIMS prompt. The preferred
format is xxx-yyyy, where xxx is the application (either
AMT or AMI) and yyyy is the Mantis account from which
you wish to transfer entities into production.
Alternatively, if the applications are entered with no Mantis library
qualifier, if you have previously been in a Mantis library, it will be
used. If not, you will be prompted to select a library.
If entities to be transfered come from multiple libraries, AMI or AMT
must be entered multiple times, once for each library.
AMT for Entry
AMT is normally the preferred application for moving Mantis entities into
the Mantis transfer bin for eventual movement into production. When
invoked, it will find all Mantis entities (programs, screens, prompters,
VSAM file definitions and interfaces) and display them. Select the ones
to be migrated by placing an S to the left of the entity
and press PF1 or PF13. If the list
exceeds a single screen, be sure to press PF1 or
PF13 on each page to transfer entities before proceeding.
Some accounts (e.g., SREC) have hundreds of entities. Limitations of the
Mantis progrmming language cause program limitations so that, at most,
250 entities can be displayed. A PF key will permit you to select the
second set of entities (and so on). This can be a slow process, so it is
important to select all entities before proceeding to the next set.
AMI for Entry
The AMI application provides a convenient alternative
for AMT when only a limited number of entities need to be
transfered. AMI requires that an entity name be entered. Then the
entities to be transfered may be specified by placing an
S to the left of the entity type. Pressing
PF1 or PF13 moves the entities
into the transfer bin. Other entities can then be specified and transfered.
