Batch Job Documentation System
Procedures/Updating Existing Documentation
Overview
When an existing job needs to have its documentation updated, two
methods can be used. If the changes are minimal and have no real
impact on production scheduling, the job documentation can be changed
directly in the production environment.
If the changes to documentation are not going to be transparent, then
changes should be made in the test environment.
Minimal Impact Changes
To change existing documentation in the production environment, choose
the appropriate documentation application from the documentation menu.
Make the changes and update the documentation. Notify any people who
need to be aware of the changes.
Non-Transparent Changes
If a change to documentation will not be transparent, the following
steps should be used:
- Transport production documentation to the test environment
- Make documentation changes in the test environment
- Transport the documentation back into the production environmet using
the online transport application (DJT) or through
migrating the JCL using the TSO Migration System
- Delete the documentation from the test environment
- Notify any people who should be made aware of the changes
