Searching

Previous attempts to provide an online method of searching for requests based on various search parameters have been quite unsuccessful. The volume of data to be processed makes an attempt to do this through AIMS quite slow. As a result, searches will be in the batch environment. An SPX panel will permit entry of search options and a batch job will be submitted to perform the search.

SPX Panel

The SPX search is invoked from the D (Documentation) menu as option 6 (D.6 from the main SPX menu). It will prompt for 7 fields. The first indicates whether current, archived or both current and archived requests should be searched. The rest are true search criteria, and at least one field must be entered.

The search fields (except project team member ans status) accept partial text in the search process. ABCD in the Description field will search for those requests with ABCD somewhere in the description. The Project Team Member field is taken as a whole, and used as initials to search for a match. The Status field is used to indicate whether to search complete, incomplete or both requests.

The following are search fields:

  1. Jobcode (up to 5 characters)
  2. Description (up to 30 characters)
  3. Reference (up to 12 characters)
  4. Project Number (up to 8 characters)
  5. Project Team Member (2 characters)
  6. Status

Jobcode is the jobcode associated with the request. Description refers to the (up to) 40 character description for the request. Reference is used to identify batch jobs, online programs and files which are directly affected by the request. For batch, it is normally the job name. For online, it is usually either the AIMS application code or the program name. Project number is a field used if a request is associated with a particular project. Project Team Member is a person's initials. It is matched against the project leader and all four project team fields for the request. Status selects , or .
