Migration Mechanics/Validation
During the migration process, each migration request is validated. If
the request cannot be validated, it is marked as in error and is not
processed. Validation includes:
- Staging Library Residency
- Each member on a migration request must exist in the
staging library for the request to be validated.
- Standardization
- JCL being migrated is checked to insure that:
- The first statement is a JOB statement
- The job name matches the member name
- The bin is 6 or 36
- The programmer name is PRODCTL
- MSGCLASS=R is specified
- USER= is specified
- Documentation
- Documentation must exist either in production (for JCL members) or
must be in the test documentation system waiting for migration. If not,
the request will be rejected.
- Job System Restrictions
- Certain job systems are only available to certain programming
groups. For example, LAxxxx jobs are maintained by the library. During
the migration process, these restrictions are enforced. The enforcement
mechanisn uses basic definitions from the BMR table, with
necessary overrides located on the BMO table.
