Installation of an SCT system at first appears to be a formidable task. However, several procedures and tools have been created to help in the process. The guide delivered with the SCT installation tape should be considered just that, a guide. The guide assumes everything uses partitioned data sets (PDSs). Our shop uses Panvalet and the installation process proceeds using Panvalet libraries.
Most of the installation process is a one-person task. The exceptions are:
There are supplemental documents available concerning the installation which are on the DUC network in the g:\adcs\everyone\docs\zss directory.
The installation process, depending on which system is being installed, should take anywhere from 2 to 5 days, excluding CICS and DB2 considerations, which must be farmed out to the Systems Group.
Before beginning, take time to read the SCT installation guide and all in-house documentation. Though the process seems to proceed sequentially, several steps must be done by other DUC areas and may be able to proceed in parallel.
