ZSS DBD Training/DBD Files
ZSS DBD Files
ZSS Files were previously covered and
will not be covered again here. However, a list of the relevant
files and their functions is listed. Where a file is system
dependent, it will have an nnn in its name. This
means the system number is part of the
file name.
The following files are used in the DBD process:
- XDFnnn
- This is the database definition file for the particular system.
- DTFILE
- This is the data translation file for all systems.
- XFFILE
- This is the database synchronization file.
- XTSnnn
- This is the database online source inquiry file.
- XDSnnn
- This is the sequential edited database source file.
- ZODnnn
- The database update process also updates this, the online
help/documentation file. The online help file includes data
translation values, so must be updated whenever the DBD update process
is run.
- NAMEFL
- The institution file is also used for read only in the
DBD process.
- ZSFILE
- The global screen file is used in the DBD process. Each screen
has data elements attached to it. If a data element on a screen is
deleted during a DBD cycle, problems can ensue. Part of the DBD
process is to make sure that does not happen.
