Sh! I like to whisper, because I'm so shy! My name is Violet, and you can find me in the springtime. My flowers are tiny, and very violet in color. You can find them wild, growing in the woods, so little and lovely! And there are also some others that big people plant and grow, sometimes in the house in a pretty pot. Those are called African violets. They need very special care, and they come in many different colors, white, pink, and sometimes more than one color will be on one flower.

You will have a hard time finding me most of the time. If I see a big person like you coming, I will fly away and hide, pretty fast!

Violet got a special letter this morning, October 12, 1996. I wanted to share it with all of you.

"Good Morning,

My name is Becky Williams and my Grandmother is helping me write this letter to you. I will be five years old in January.

I like to come to your page and visit the fairy's.. My favorite one is Violet. She is beautiful.

Grandma and me wrote this poem about her. I hope you like it.

Violet and the Dew
Its early morning and the dew is still around
and the sun is shining brightly all around

I watch as the sun dances from flower to flower
making the dew look silvery on each flower

As I watch the movement of all this brilliance light
I see what looks like fairies dancing in the light

They flitter and flutter all around
dropping sparkles on the ground

I wish that you could see them too
dancing through the early dew

The one I like the very best
is on the flower I like best

Look at her with all your might
and you'll see Violet in the light

Don't make a noise for she is shy
see how lovely she is as she passes by

The dew is gone the fairies too
I'll have to wait for tomorrow's dew.

My Grandma also made me a homepage of my own, want to see it?"
