Submission

  • Log in to Cengage & WebAssign through 🔗Canvas.
  • Open “HW 1” under the Assignments tab.
  • You may submit your answers up to 5 times, so don’t panic if you notice a mistake later.

Extension

  • You may request an extension using the “Request Extension” button (a small penalty applies). You do not need to email me.

Vector Answers

If your answer is a vector, please use the vector bracket notation provided by WebAssign. See the screenshot below for the second icon highlighted in blue.

For example, if the vector is

\[ \begin{bmatrix}3 \\ 2\end{bmatrix} \]

(which is the notation I mostly use in my slides), enter it in WebAssign as

\[ \langle 3, 2 \rangle. \]

Tips

  • I strongly recommend doing all work by hand on scratch paper to build both intuition and muscle memory. This genuinely helps with long-term understanding.
  • It is fine to check your answers using computational tools; see 🔗Useful links for MATLAB or Mathematica.
  • You may use AI tools, but be extra cautious as they are more prone to errors than standard computational software. See also 🔗AI policy.
  • Working with classmates (e.g., to compare final answers) is encouraged, but each student should also spend time working independently for self-improvement.
