83-87 Marketing Manager, TALENT Systems - Responsible for business development, pricing, proposals, and sales for Systems Engineering Group. Responsible for product management of TALENT computer-aided-test systems and software, currently in use by auto-makers and aerospace research agencies in Europe, US and Far East.
The TALENT systems represented a major advance in the automation of development testing in product design. With this system, researchers could design experiments, submit them to large test facilities (e.g. wind tunnels, engine test labs and environmental simulation chambers) where they would control physical devices and execute complex experiments in a fully automated manner. The TALENT software required over 30 man-years of effort and involved the development of a dedicated test automation language in both compiler and interpreter versions, the integration of extensive DBMS functions, the development of graphics editors and innovation in a number of types of control algorithms. Responsible for setting prices on large turnkey, fixed-price software development projects with values exceeding $2 million.

Supported firm's turnkey contracting activities with proposal writing, analysis of terms and conditions, project pricing analysis, cash-flow analysis and scheduling.

Business Analyst, Department of Research. - Carried out various tasks, including preparation of corporate manual for capital project evaluation and oversight reviews of capital expenditure justifications prior to their submission to Board of Directors. Studied the quality and usefulness of data sources for a major strategic planning study of Canadian Pacific's Trucking subsidiaries. Conducted several financial reviews of firms as potential candidates for acquisition.
