In addition to two major tests and a non-comprehensive
final examination, a book review is required (discussed below). This
paper, along with the tests and the final examination, will have roughly
equal value in determination of the final grade. Tests include text
multiple choice, lecture identifications, and discussions from the sources;
the final examination includes fill in the blank and multiple-choice
questions. Although the course is devoted primarily to lectures, there
are also several classes devoted to discussion between the instructor
and the members of the class. Attendance at and participation in these
discussions are highly encouraged, and the quantity and quality of both
will be used as a factor in determining final course grades.
