1. Getting your account set up.
a. If you don't already know them, find out your Auburn University username and password; they should match you email address; your user-name is first part of your e-mail address. (See http://www.auburn.edu/helpdesk/accounts/stu.html#how for information.)b. If you have not already set up a web page:
- In Netscape, go to telnet://mallard.auburn.edu. Login using your username and password.
- Type “newweb” and hit enter.
- Write down the path it gives you. You will need this later. Your path should be of the form /home/duc##/userid.
c. If you do not know your path:
- In Netscape, go to telnet://mallard.auburn.edu. Login using your username and password.
- Type “pwd”.
2. Open Netscape and choose "New... Blank page" under the File menu. This will be your home page and should be saved as "index.html".
a. Put your name at the top, and other information that you want to share.
b. Add a link to send e-mail:
- Type in “Send me an e-mail.”
- Highlight “Send me”.
- Click on the “Link” tool at the top of the page. (5th icon from the right)
- Type in “mailto:address”
c. Start a section on your page for CTSE 7970.
- Add a link to my course Web page. (http://www.auburn.edu/~martiwg/ctse7970/)
- You will add links to your assignments, as you complete them.
d. Use the text tools to make this look attractive!
e. Under Format, choose "Page Title". Enter a name for your page, such as "Home Page of your-name". You can also set the background color and other properties for the page.
3. Upload your new home page:
a. Click on the “Publish” tool at the top of the page.
b. Location to publish: fttp://mallard.auburn.edu/path/public_html/index.html (path as in #1(b) or (c)).
c. Enter your Mallard username and password.
f. Click on “OK”.
4. Check it out! Type http://www.auburn.edu/~username
5. HOMEWORK: Post your assignment on your Web site.
a. Create a new page and save it, reflection1.html
b. Enter your reflection on that page and publish it.
c. Open your home page and add a link to your assignment. Don’t forget to republish it!
NOTE: If you don’t have your original file:
- Open your home page as in #4. Then choose “Edit Page” under the File menu.
- You have to republish it as in #3.
