With a global population of 5 to 6 billion, anything that lots of people do affects the earth. Scientists have documentation of environmental problems going back thousands of years. Until recently most have been localized or small in comparison to the size of the earth. But we can no longer ignore the changes happening to our environment as they are beginning to affect every living organism on the planet.
