The location of the workshop is the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center in Auburn, Alabama, USA.

At the time of the Workshop, Auburn will be in the US Central Daylight Time zone (GMT -5:00).

AUBURN/OPELIKA:  Auburn is a small city of approximately 50,000 in east-central Alabama.  It is the home of Auburn University, a public university with 25,000 students.  The downtown Auburn area is adjacent to the university and just about a 5  minute walk from the conference hotel.  Downtown Auburn hosts a range of entertainment venues and restaurants from casual dining to fine dining all within a 10 minute walk of the hotel.

The neighboring town of Opelika, AL also offers an excellent mix of restuarants and entertainment in the historic downtown area.  Located about 7.5 miles (12 km) from Auburn, it is a short drive (about 10 to 15 minutes) from the conference hotel.

DOWNTOWN AUBURN CONSTRUCTION:  Please be aware that the City of Auburn has just started a three-month road construction project in the downtown area (started May 11, 2015).  All restuaurants in the downtown area are remaining open during the construction period.  There are many dining options in the area, please ask the conference organizers if you have any questions.

WEATHER:  The forecast weather for the Workshop is typically for May.  High temperatures are forecast for the mid- to upper-80’s to lower-90’s (28 to 33 C) and lows in middle-60’s (17 to 19 C) with a 30% to 50% chance of afternoon rain showers.

WORKSHOP TRANSPORTATION:  Because of the possibility of either very warm or inclimate weather, transportation will be provided for the laboratory tours.  For those who wish to walk (about 10 - 15 minutes), our students will guide you to the laboratory.  Transportation will be provided for all Workshop participants for the banquet - which is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

ATLANTA, GA:  International visitors that may arrive a day or two early may want to consider visiting the Atlanta area.  Atlanta is one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the southeastern United States with numerous cultural activities and good subway connections between the downtown area and the Atlanta airport.
